“I work with clients to develop awareness of dysfunctional patterns of mind and body. The goal is to develop healthy, joyful, present-centered ways of moving, breathing, thinking, feeling – and being.”

You are in a period of transition — relationship, job, motherhood, or general life change — and feel as though you’re lost at sea. You crave to feel anchored within your own mind, body and spirit, but patterns of disconnection and suffering have you flailing ineffectually.
You’re adrift--but also tired of feeling cramped within your over-burdened mind. You long for a light-filled space where you can unpack what no longer serves you, and discern how to move forward in a way that does.
A part of you knows there’s a more joyful life nearby, but you feel as though you’ve lost your way.
Hello, I am Julia...
I understand what it’s like to feel lonely, lost, and hopeless.
I also know what it’s like to seek — and find — a healthier and more joyful life.
When I was 19 years old, therapy saved me. I found a woman who helped me remember my own, inner, infinite capacity for discernment and healing, and to learn to love myself unconditionally. We met once a week, sometimes more, in a tiny room that became my safest place. With her I unpacked my deepest and darkest-held core beliefs and found many of them were untrue. I was lovable. I wasn’t alone. I no longer had to move, breathe, and think in ways that caused suffering. I could choose another path—a challenging one, to be sure, but full of learning, ease and joy.
Since becoming a therapist in 2015, I’ve guided clients through their own circuitous paths of becoming. Since I became a mother in 2016, I’ve worked with many postpartum women who are doubly tasked—with caring for a tiny, precious being, and also with recognizing how their own life will take shape. As a mother of four, my own identity continues to shift and change, and I know what it’s like to feel lonely and disconnected throughout that process.
I also know that we don’t have to move through life’s greatest challenges alone—in fact, we’re not supposed to! We are meant to be in community with others, to be guided by those just a little farther on the path. To be a guide to you is to do the work of my heart, and I am grateful for the opportunity to help you find connection to your highest, best, and healthiest self.
The great news is you have the ability to create a life that brings you joy. We’ll work in a laid-back environment where you can be yourself, figure out what’s right for you, and learn tools to help you navigate life’s curve balls using a variety of therapeutic methods. I’ve worked through many of the same challenges personally and spent over 15 years helping others do the same.
What is it like working with me…
You can expect curious listening and compassionate presence. In my experience, therapy is as much about the work as it is about the relationship that we build. As you begin to trust me, you may find you begin to trust the loving, compassionate witness who already lives within you. My goal is to model the kind of unconditional love that you deserve to give to yourself.
While the change we seek may stem from things that have happened in the past, real change can only occur in the present moment, and begins with an honest and discerning appreciation of who we are, as we are. As such, we’ll begin every session checking in with body, breath, and mind. We’ll use that information to shape our sessions.
When the mind feels too crowded a space to re-write dysfunctional patterns of self-talk and perception, the body offers a clear, well lit, adjacent space to do the work. And when the body is holding and tensing, it is often reflecting a conscious, or unconscious dis-ease in the mind. It’s my job to help you become aware of these patterns, and of the connection between mind, body, and breath. When mind and body are understood as essentially connected, cognitive and somatic processes become powerful partners in the process of healing of every layer of being.
Ultimately, we work to unravel dysfunctional physical and mental patterns so as to cultivate compassionate presence with what is, and thereby deep acceptance of love for yourself as you are.I know and believe things will change…
I'm a firm believer that everyone has the power to make changes in their life.
I know and believe things will change…
Therapy is a process. I am a guide, and will work to help you develop a relationship to your own, inner guide. That you are seeking help is evidence that there is a part of you that knows there is a happier, healthier life available to you. Together, we can find it.
But is there hope for me?
Oh my goodness, yes! The foundation of my therapeutic orientation—a fancy way of saying what I believe as a therapist—is that you are already whole and healed. It’s our work to help guide you back to that most joyful place. As Rumi wrote, “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” Together we will break down the walls between your current self, and the truly awesome light within you, already shining, ready to guide you on your path.
