Therapy for Highly Sensitive People

stack of books, mindbody wellness

For adults who are ready to go from feeling like they’re too much to being proud of their uniqueness and strength.

You’re constantly told that you feel too much. You’re too sensitive. You take things too personally.

You shy away from anything that could overstimulate or upset you. You get emotional easily, at both things that move you and things that upset you. You feel the emotions of others without them telling you what they’re feeling—you can sense it. You are a deep person, with complex thoughts and emotions. You're different.

But what you hear, over and over, is you’re wrong.

You are not wrong. There is nothing wrong with you. You are simply a highly sensitive person (HSP). Put simply, a highly sensitive person feels more deeply and stronger than your average person. A HSP may have increased emotional sensitivity, a larger reaction to inner and outer stimuli (pain, hunger, light, noise), and a complex inner life.

Highly sensitive people are often mistakenly told that they are weak or too emotional. We believe being highly sensitive is a gift. You are in-tune with yourself in ways that the average person is not. You are able to express yourself in ways that others couldn’t imagine. You are unique. You are complex. You are a gift.

Being highly sensitive, however, comes with difficulties. It is often hard for others to understand you. It can be a very overwhelming world with so much heartache that hits you deeply. It can be deeply invalidating to constantly be told that you’re weird or different.

We can help you to navigate your world as a HSP. While there are cons to being highly sensitive, we see it as something that enriches who you are and the life that you live—if you have the tools to handle the emotional dysregulation and overstimulation that often come with being a HSP. We are here to help you to navigate your world and to learn tools to help you to stop feeling alone and overwhelmed.

We would be honored to be there for you during this journey and we are here to help. You are unique—you deserve a therapy practice that appreciates that, rather than one that wants to change you. Come as you are. We are right here waiting for you.

Being an HSP may feel like:

  • A crippling fear of rejection

  • Physical symptoms like headaches when something unpleasant happens

  • Worrying about what others think

  • Reacting very strongly to criticism

  • Startling easily

  • Uncomfortable with bright lights and sounds

A brighter future starts today.
